The Bible & The Qu'ran could potentially be banned in Canada
« on: March 30, 2004, 07:43:23 PM »
There's 95% gonna be a law that bans anything which talks bad about homosexuals, and apparently the angry talks I make at school could lead to a suspension, and eventually expulsion, and religious leaders who condemn homosexuality will likely be thrown in jail. And, to stack on, since both the Bible & The Qu'ran condemn homosexuality they will be removed from lots of places. I'm thinking that those Bibles in hotels will be removed, and as will the 2 Bibles and the Qu'ran in my school's library.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I find it disgusting that I can't even express my opinion for fear of being expelled. This is suppossed to be a free country. Like Jamil Al Amin said, "They say you have freedom of speech but you can't yell 'FIRE!' in a movie theater."

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Agree 100%. I personally don't drift to the left nor the right, I'm a centrist. Both are too extreme for me.

Jamil Al Amin doesn't understand "freedom".  You *Do* have freedom to CHOOSE to yell "Fire" in a movie theatre, but there will be repurcussions.  You have freedom to *Choose*.  Think about that, maybe you'll get smarter.  Maybe not.

Yea, and in Cuba you have the freedom to kill someone, but there are consequences you know?...In any country you have the freedom to do anything you want, but there are always consequences...

Actually, I think that's the point he was trying to make. Freedom of speech should mean you can say what you without repercussions, but obviously it does.

And yeah, I'm tired of Canada. If the Conservative party wins the next election, they'll make sure this law doesn't stick. If Liberals win again, I'm leaving Canada when I finish College.

I never really visited my Library much when I was in school, but I don't think we even had a bible.  Religion has no place in Public School.  That's why people choose to go to church.

oh and btw, I'm a member of the Conservative Party  ;D

Like the wise and knowledgeable imam Jamil Al-Amin says, "Freedom is relative to the people who sell it."   America and Canada and many countries claim to be free but each have their own rules and restraints that are unique.

No government can claim to guarantee freedom anyway.  Even if they sincerely tried, freedom is not an absolute.

Aside from laws of governing, physically and individually we can not accomplish freedom within ourselves.  You are not free enough not to eat.  Or to eat and not go through the process of breaking down the food and exposing of waste.

We must forget about trying to become free.  Man, at his highest state of being, is a humble servant or slave to Allah.  Allah is the Al-Azizz, the powerful, the mighty, the defeator who is never defeated, the dominator.  All praises to him for making us Muslim and giving us all the blessings of this world and the hereafter.

Conservative? Me too. I am too young as of now to join the party, but I am attempting to offer support right now. But still, it's harmless to have a Bible or Qu'ran in school. If you need to quickly look something up it's there, no one forces you to read it.

BTW for those who don't realize, I love Canada. But disgusting laws like this limit what I can and can't say. I don't want to move but if this law passes I might.
