Yo man... it's funny hearing you talk about this like you actually know anything about this subject.  You can't really tell me anything because I've experienced the situation first hand both ways.  In my own family life and before Islam I experienced the typical relationships just like your average person in this country, because that's what I am.  The only difference is I converted to Islam.  Since then, I've seen the other side of life.  Both here, and in the Muslim countries I have travelled to.  Through my wives family I know privately the inner workings and family structure of many Muslim women.  In my wives family there are female converts to Islam, women from Thiland, Indonesia, Fiji, Bahamas, African American converts, etc.  So you really can't tell me anything.  You are talking to someone who has experienced both sides.

That's not a sufficient criteria for basing your assesment of Islam.  Let me prove it to you.

-First of all, I've been in the Muslim world, to Mekkah, Medina, Jeddah, and the countries U.A.E. and Oman.  Not one of those places did I witness a violent incident, infact I experienced the great love, brotherhood, and generosity amongst the people, and when they greet you it is not fake like we do in America, but it is a genuine greeting.  (Read Malcolm X's biography as he explains in detail the differences between Middle Eastern and African Muslim societies compared to the United States)  Also, not to mention, the places I visited were not in poverty, they were actually living much better than a great number of the population in the United States.

-I grew up like you did so I used to think the same things. It's not about a new outlook for me.  It's the same outlook.  I only had the courage to act on it when I realized there was a better alternative than leading the conventional American lifestyle.

As for Muslims killing Jews.  Once again, you guys provide perfect examples for me displaying how the media has manipulated your minds.  The Muslims in Palestine are only defending themselves from the oppression of the Jews.  Before the last century, that had been a region in which Arabs had inhabited peacefully for more than 700 years, and they had aloud Jews and Christians Visa's to visit their Holy sites.  Then in 1948, the United Nations decided the Jews needed a homeland (after what happened in Germany with Hitler) so they created Isreal and the destruction of Palestine was exacted.

...btw, I find it amusing that you guys ask me why Muslim countries are "strife with violence and poverty" when it is the United States who has had 2 wars with Muslim countries in just 5 years, it is the United States who had killed 100x the amount of people that Muslims have, and it is the United States who has enacted the economic sanctions on Muslim countries that starve little boys and girls, only because their government tries to biuld the same weapons that the United States already has hundreds of!

I'll take a look out my window right now. hmm, lets see, some grass, an escalade parked across the street, no suicide bombers, yep looks pretty good to me. how about i turn on cnn and see what the gaza strip looks like then get back to you. i know your excited about being a muslim, but that doesnt mean you have to abandon common sense, a truly balanced person would examine their religion for faults as well and see the error in their peoples way of life. you dont do that at all, you just spam this board with your bullshit hoping someone will argue so you can impress everyone with your knowledge of islam to show how cool you are. its time to take it to the second level bryan and be aware of the world around you, or maybe no muslims do that thats why they live in such shithole countries.

LOL, and you're telling me the U.S. doesn't have issues?  We have the highest gun homicide rate of all Western nations, and our standard of living ranks fairly low as well.  We may not be Third World, but we have comparable problems for a Western nation.

Where do you live?  For me growing up, there were more than a few occasions where I was awakened during the night by the sound of 9-mms' being fired in drive-bys.  Not everybody's like you and gets to live in a posh suburban neighborhood where gangs and drugs aren't serious problems, ya know?  All these years of listening to gangsta rap and you still haven't figured out that America has serious issues with violence?  Damn, small wonder nothing ever gets accomplished in this country.

Well, it's easy for you to say that when you're already on that side of the fence, ya know?  I've had plenty of friends who went straight after converting to Islam or Christianity, so I have respect for what religion can do.  You can laugh all you want, but it did save their lives...they needed God or Allah to redeem themselves.  Personally, I did it through college and that worked for me, but different strokes for different folks.

Generally speaking, tho, this country has taken only timid steps towards gun control.  I remember in England, there was ONE incident where some dude shot up a bunch of people with an AK-47, and there was a huge public uproar protesting possession of those guns, and the British government was quick to ban them.  In this country, we had numerous incidents of workplace shootings, gang violence, etc. by people using AKs', and the only thing that happened was that Congress passed a law banning flash hiders and bayonet lugs on assault rifle (but the guns were still made without those features)...and more recently, that law expired.

So yeah, I'd say this country overlooks a lot of problems.  We have improved, I can't deny that, but for all of America's claims of being so rich and so great, there are still a lot of people living here who would beg to differ.  The fact that they've gotta make inner-city violence into a form of degrading music just to get white people's attention is quite sad.
