Bullshit about Emerson crossing the floor.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

thats fuckin great that Emerson did that.

Quote
In the biggest surprise of the cabinet, former Industry Minister David Emerson crossed the floor to join the Tories and was rewarded with the international trade minister portfolio.

In his new post, the Vancouver Kingsway MP will be responsible for developing the relationship between Canada and the growing market in China and the Pacific region.

Emerson gives the party its only Member of Parliament from the major urban centres of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Prior to his defection, Emerson had been tapped as a possible contender for the Liberal crown.

Emerson was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 as a Liberal.

In 1975, Emerson joined the government of British Columbia and became the province's deputy minister of finance in 1984.

In 1986, Emerson left government to become president and CEO of the Western and Pacific Bank of Canada.  Four years later, he was appointed deputy minister of finance, then deputy minister to the Premier and later president of B.C. Trade Development Corporation.

In 1992, Emerson was appointed to lead the Vancouver International Airport Authority and six years later, he was appointed president and CEO of Canfor Corporation, Canada’s largest producer of softwood lumber.

There's A LOT of major construction goin on in Vancouver with new subway systems, highway upgrades to Whistler, new olympic venues, highrises, bridges ect.  With all this new stuff being built, our relationship with China should grow, Vancouver already has the biggest ports on the westcoast of north america (second only to New York in all of NA), someone like Emerson is good to oversee things and make sure our relationship stays strong.  This is really good for the Tories.  Emerson is also heavily involved in the 2010 olympics, which now gives the Conservatives a hand in.  I'm expecting him to do a lot for Vancouver.

I don't know, I mean Emerson is one of the few Liberals I respected and all that but they shouldn't have kept the situation under wraps until the swearing in date. What they should have done is have had Emerson announce he was switching parties last week and then it wouldn't seem like coming out on the day of the swearing in meant he just crossed to get a Cabinet post.
