Man Shot Dead At Busta Rhymes Video Shoot In Brooklyn
By Roman Wolfe

Police are seeking suspects in an early morning shoot-out on the set of a Busta Rhymes video shoot in Brooklyn, New York.

Israel Ramirez, 29, was shot once in the chest and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Rhymes, who was in the studio at the time of the shooting, was not injured.

Rhymes was shooting a full length remix video for his single "Touch It," on Green Street in Greenpoint, known for it's thriving artistic community.

Last week, Busta Rhymes released three all-star remixes to "Touch It."

The video will feature Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, DMX, Papoose, Rah Digga, Lloyd Banks, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Winky Wright, Garry Sheffield, Raekwon and others.

Shortly before the shooting marred the all-star video shoot, Rhymes was in good spirits.

"Touch It" is taken from his highly anticipated Aftermath/Interscope debut The Big Bang, which is slated for an April release date.

"I am blessed to be in a position at this stage in my career that I could put out one record and completely dominate the scene with the crème de la crème of NY," Busta Rhymes said shortly before the shooting took place. "Mary, Missy, Rah Digga, Banks, DMX and Papoose...its just the beginning.”

Police are viewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings hoping to identify a suspect in the murder.

Representatives for Interscope declined to comment on the shooting.

heres another article bout the shootin from hiphopgame.com:

We’re hearing that there is some beef brewing between the Ruff Ryders and G-Unit. Apparently shots were fired at last night’s video shoot for Busta Rhymes’s “Touch It” remix. Did Game’s “240 Bars” have anything to do with this? More details coming soon.

A heated argument apparently led to the shooting that took the life of a 29-year-old man on the set of a Busta Rhymes video shoot Sunday morning (February 5), SOHH.com has learned.

As SOHH previously reported, Israel Ramirez, a bodyguard who recently started working security for Busta as his jewelry handler, was shot and killed shortly after midnight outside of the Kiss The Cactus Production studio in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooting was a result of an argument that began inside the studio and continued outside.

"The guy went to shoot Busta Rhymes and the bodyguard jumped in front... and took the bullet," a source told SOHH exclusively. "The dude was gonna shoot Busta Rhymes."

SOHH has also learned from another source that this was the second time in recent months that Busta and his entourage have been shot at.

Meanwhile, according to the New York Post, police are looking for Tony Yayo, who "stomped out of the studio after arguing with the video's producer" shortly before the shooting occurred.

Busta was at the Brooklyn studio shooting a video for the remix to "Touch It." DMX, Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliott, who are all featured on the remix, were all said to have been on set throughout the day as were boxers Winky Wright and Felix Trinidad.

Ironically, almost three years to the date (February 21, 2003) Busta's SUV was riddled with bullets as it sat parked outside the Violator Records/Management offices in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Busta and a company executive went into the Violator offices at about 10 pm that night and came out eighteen minutes later to find the vehicle shot up on the passenger side. Thankfully, no one was in the car.

At press time, neither Busta nor his label, Aftermath/Interscope, have released a statement about the murder.

A member of Busta Rhymes' security staff was shot and killed early Sunday morning on the set of the rapper's new video. Israel Ramirez, 29, was shot once in the chest by an unidentified assailant outside a warehouse in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, New York, that was being used as the set for the video.

Rhymes and several other people were inside the studio at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning when a dozen shots rang out, sending people scattering for cover. Ramirez, the father of three, was the only person hit, according to police. He was taken to Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center and declared dead on arrival.

Among the stars on hand at various times to appear in the video, which was for the remix of Busta's track "Touch It," were Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, DMX and boxers Ronald "Winky" Wright and Felix Trinidad.

According to a witness who requested anonymity, the video shoot — where as many as 500 people had gathered, according to police — was already filled with tension due to long-simmering conflicts between some of the rap crews on the set whose members were gathered for cameos. Arguments between some of the rivals had erupted before the shooting took place.

The witness said G-Unit member Tony Yayo was on the set and apparently exchanged insulting words with producer Swizz Beatz and members of the Ruff Ryders camp. "Yayo was talking sh-- to Swizz Beatz, Dee and Waah [Darrin and Joaquin Dean, CEOs of Ruff Ryders Entertainment]," the witness said. "Then Yayo started talking to Busta, saying, 'My bad, I'm not trying to disrespect you. I ain't gonna make it hot.' "

Relations have been tense between the G-Unit and Ruff Ryders artist Jadakiss, as well as Cassidy, who is signed with Beatz's Full Surface label.

The witness said Ramirez was not thought to have been involved with the tensions on the set. He had been hired to handle Rhymes' jewelry for the shoot.

Police impounded a car near the shooting that was hit by gunfire, and recovered a semiautomatic pistol in an empty lot nearby that they suspect had been used in the murder, according to the New York Police Department spokesperson. Police have not announced a suspect or motive in the shooting.

A spokesperson for Interscope Records, Rhymes and Yayo's label, had no comment. Calls to Rhymes' management and attorney for comment were not returned at press time.
