snoop doggy dogg - tha doggfather. i slept on this far too long. got it when it came out, wasn't feeling it much. listened to it more after everyone on this board was giving props to OJ wake Up a few years ago and I realized this is such a dope album.

Pretty much any of the major East Coast albums released in the mid-90s'..."Illmatic", "Ready to Die", "The Infamous", "Reasonable Doubt", etc.  Back then, I pretty much refused to listen to anything from outside of Cali, the only exceptions being Bone Thugs and the Geto Boys.  I took the East-West beef a little too seriously.

yeah exactully..I started listening to EastCoast Rap in 2004 after my friend gave me 36 chambers and i was hooked...

a suprising 1 from me is retaliation revenge and get back, i dnt know why i jus wasnt listening to it properly but now its prob 1 of my fav albums

e 40's hall of game sounded too poppy for me wen a 1st herd it but now i look at it as quite a deep album

another couple= suga free  - new testament, this is a great record
rbx - ripp the game bloody, dnt know why i like this now
every three 6 mafia album, didnt like the style at first but now i love it , 1 of my fav groups(mystic styles and da end are 2 of the greatest albums iv heard)

DMX- ...And Then There Was X. When I picked this up in '99 I liked like 4 songs and left it in my CD case for years untouched. Around 2002 I took another listen and now its my second favorite DMX album next to It's Dark and Hell is Hot.

A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory
I bought Low End Theory on tape on the strength of their videos. I didn't really get into the album until years later. I sold the tape to a friend for $5 my senior year in high school. What was I thinking?

Kurupt - Streetz is a Mutha
I didn't like it when I first heard it and didn't listen to it for 2 months, then I started listening to it again and I couldn't put it down for 2 years straight and it's one of my all-time favorites.

DJ Quik - Rhythmalism
I didn't really get the album when I first heard it, it was so different from what I was used to hearing. I honestly didn't get into the cd until after Balance and Options dropped and I picked up Rhythmalism again and began listening to it. Now it's one of my favorite albums.

The Roots - Things Fall Apart
Same thing with Rhythmalism. I think I ordered both albums from amazon at the same time if I remember. I was expecting something like Illadelph Halfife and I didn't get into it right away, save 4 for songs. After a while I got into it more and the avant garde sound became more appealing.

Dr. Dre - The Chronic
I didn't get into it right away, other than the hit songs from the album, it wasn't all that appealing to me when I first heard it. I heard this album at the same time Redman's debut dropped and I liked Redman's album a lot more. I went back a few years later and listened to it again adn I was like damn, what was I thinking. I used to have the Dre Day maxi single cassette and it had Puffin Blunts and Drinking Tanqueray on the b-side and I bumped the hell out of that song and freestyled over the instrumental for months on end.

Nas - It Was Written
I didn't just dislike this album when I first heard it. I downright hated it. I hated the drug dealing and mafioso references. I hated the Trackmasters production and I thought Nas was a huge sellout with this album when I first heard it. I let a friend borrow the tape and it was destroyed and I didn't even care. Probably around 2000 or so, I picked up a used copy on cd and all I could think to myself was why did I hate this album so much? Yeah the drug dealing mafioso escobar references get to be too much but Nas kicks some deep shit on If I ruled the World, Black Girl Lost and I Gave You Power and the production was solid. How could I hate a song like The Message? That's a masterpiece.

2pac - 2pacalypse Now
Songs like Soulja's Story and Violent were a little too much for me to handle when I first heard it. I had never heard anything that intense and I didn't know what to make of it. It took a while before I could really appreciate it.

Also, I hated Suga Free when I first heard him but now I'm a big fan.
