You gotta convert your videos to fit these specs...

Quote
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

There are plenty of free apps on the internet that convert files to play on the newest iPods.

First question, do you run Windows or Mac? Sometimes iPod video converters have trouble with audio in AVI files, especially divx and xvid. For Mac, I find iSquint (h**p://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28250) to have the best results, with great conversion times (plus it's free :) ). Be sure to have the latest version of QuickTime installed as well if you're on a Mac. For PC, i've heard nothin but good things about ImToo iPod Video Converter (h**p://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/58685). It costs money but it wouldn't be too hard to come across a s/n :D Oh yeah, for PC, be sure to have the latest divx codec installed from (h**p://www.divx.com) Hope this helps...

I think this goes back to the encoding/conversion of the file.

ev_dude seems to know what he's talking about... give some of those apps a try.  Whether you are on a Mac or PC, make sure you have the latest Quicktime.  I use a Mac and use a couple of different apps to convert my videos...

"MacTheRipper" to rip DVD's (FREE)
"MPEG Streamclip" to convert to iPod viewable/playable files. (FREE)
"HandBrake" - I hear this app is also good at converting files.  (FREE)

Do a Google search for those apps and maybe some are PC compatible if that's what you use.
