^^ Cause most of them are from NY. Jay-z is a good rapper, but just above average and not at the top. Believe me.

Shit, what about your boy Ice Cube?  And I can guarantee if you ask some of the big rappers from the west they'd put Jay among the best as well, give the dude some respect

c'mon for christ sakes, thats the lamest fuckin excuse... why cant you guys just admit jay got skill and hes a dope rapper....
let's put it this way. I have 6 Jay-Z cd's. That means I love his music, cause otherwise I wouldn't buy 6 ORIGINAl cd's from a rapper. Yeah, Jay got skills and yes jay is a dope rapper. But he is just above average and I can name easily 10 - 20 mc's that I like more or are lyrically better.

Who says everything Cube or JD says is true?

Besides, it isn't called an OPINION for nothing. I don't like Jay-Z either and you can tell me that is wrong but it won't change my opinion and I bet it won't change Fressh_Deini's opinion either.
Z knows about ALL your inner conflicts..

Good read, and Jay-Z is overrated.
Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.

Ice Cube
"Jay-Z is off the hook."

Mary J. Blige
"I would then go to LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Black Moon, Biggie, Pac, Meth [Method Man], Jay-Z, Nas."

Nas
"Jay, of course."

Grandmaster Flash
"Then you have your Biggies, Jay-Z."

Jermaine Dupri
"Big. Jay, of course."

Big Daddy Kane
"Rakim, Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie."

Rakim
"We looking at people I respect. Jay."

Yet the Jay-Z bashing continues...give it up.

Surely if those greats have those words to say about him and the people they place him beside - he is worthy of praise from everyone else.

So?

That's their opinion and I have mine. I don't like his music that much and I think he is overrated. Deal with it.

I could list 10 emcees that are better than he is, I can even do better.

Chuck D
Rakim
Big Daddy Kane
2pac
Ice Cube
Slick Rick
Krs-One
Redman
Ras Kass
Kool G Rap
Pharoahe Monch
Pos D'Nous
Andre 3000
Big Boi
Ghostface Killah
Scarface
Notorious BIG
Common
Nas
Kam
Xzibit

There you go, 20 emcees better than Jay. Most of them are from NY so there goes the New York bias argument. Jay-Z is a good rapper but GOAT? No.

So?

SO??

So you're just gonna overlook the opinions of some of the people who made rap what it is!

People like Rakim.

I hold "The original God MC's" i.e. Rakim's opinion higher than most people on this board.

I'm not saying whatever he says goes.

But when it comes to rap 99% of the time he is right.

So for you or anyone to completely disregard what he says just because of a personal opinion is ignorant to the highest degree.
