What state are Tash and E Swift from the Alkaholiks from? Nope not Cali....they are from Ohio. And what rap group  brought Ruthless Records back from the dead and made Eazy-E relevant again when he was looked at as a joke? It was Bone Thugs N Harmony, and we all know where they were from.

First off. The Ohio Players, I give you, Roger and Zapp (They are one act) I give you, but with that, the westcoast sampled TONS of different artist. George Clinton is from North Carolina/New Jersey, James Brown was from Georgia, and our producers are from here. Bone Thugs was produced by DJ Uneek, from LA. So don't get it twisted, yeah, Ohio got some funk back in the day. But compaired to LA, don't even think your close.
