Gallas ponders Chelsea departure

Chelsea defender William Gallas has hinted he will leave the champions this summer in search of a new challenge.

"I have been here five years and maybe that's enough. I am a man who wants to win everything and I want to do that in different countries," Gallas said.

The 28-year-old defender moved to Chelsea from Marseille in a £6m deal in May 2001 and has made more than 200 appearances for the club.

He has only one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Gallas was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona earlier in the season when he was being played at full-back instead of his preferred role in central defence.

On Sunday Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said three players would leave the club in the summer - but the exiting trio would not include Shaun Wright-Phillips or Didier Drogba.
