Scion’s King of the Beats Submission Entries Starting MAY!!

Beginning in May 2006 Scion will be searching for the next best music producer to be crowned the King of the Beats (KOTB).

KOTB is first contest to target those who create the music – the music producers, not just those who perform it. This high profile beat battle provides aspiring music producers with an opportunity to challenge each other and be judged by legendary producers and a local beatsmith in front of a live audience. The music competition will feature Beat Exchange regional showcases in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.

Contestants from across the United States are invited to send their submissions between May 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006.

The judges will then select eight contestants for each of the three cites to engage in four two-on-two battles consisting of three two-minute rounds per event.  One finalist will be selected for each city. Requirements may include contestants utilizing four of the same records to create their beats live with identical elements, recreating a track live or showing off their ability to remix music.  In the final stage of each regional round the contestants will be required to either “chop up” one of the 25 classic breaks pre-chosen by the judges, or remix a song using a selection of a cappella tracks provided at the contest.
