You know what's so stupid about rap videos these days?

The fact that you can't show guns in them anymore.  It's all because of that stupid-ass rule B.E.T. came up years ago now, so all rappers now comply with that shit to get rotation.  Isn't that shit just retarded, not to mention unrealistic?

A good example of a video that got shafted by this rule was Eazy-E's "Neighborhood Sniper"; BET banned it because it shows Eazy killin niggas with assault rifles and pistols.  They said it was too violent for that reason.  But why is it that all this degradation of women is allowed in the videos, and yet it's too taboo to show a real gun these days?

the effect off violence in video ain't the same as sex. I seen a lot of acction movies and never shoot a gun in my life, but i seen a lot of gurls who dress and act like what they see on mtv. But this aint gone change, we're fucked and the end is coming

if you stop and think about it; there was never really a violence issue before rap videos introduced the idea of killing someone with a gun, whereas degrading women has been evident since their creation.  in retrospect, rap is really the cause of every territorial problem that we have today, such as the necessity to use force and violence in iraq.  it all stems from violence portrayed in rap videos.*please note the sarcasm*

i am with the thread starter, i would not mind seeing a dude or two get shot up in a video.  i might actually start watching television again.

Somebody at BET didn't feel comforable wit guns in music videos, so they banned them. Women are so comformable or used to getting degraded that they don't give a shit how they get portrayed. As soon as somebody started rapping about guns, and caught on, people felt scared/nervous/intimidated. As soon as somebody started rapping about bitches/hoes/sluts and how they treat them, and caught on, women felt some kind of acceptance. Ain't hard to tell that. Look at the female rappers, look what they rap about. Somebody ovbiously was concerned about guns in the videos and complained. The degradation of women shown in videos won't stop cuz ain't none of them complaining. They accept it like that.



I think its a pretty dumb idea to not show guns. On MTV Jams when an old video comes up they show the guns, they show them clear but won't allow it to flash a peek now. It makes no sense. What they rapping about is bad so showing a gun is bad? They just gonna hear them talking about it in the song. They rap about degrading women and they show that in the video. They get to hear about that and get to see it.

I don't exactly consider softcore porn or gun violence being featured in rap videos to be constructive to society.  But at the same time, I just think it's ludicrous that one is allowed and the other is not when rap lyrics regularly discuss both bitches and choppers.  And yeah, personally, I did enjoy rap videos a lot more when they featured shootouts and things of that nature...why else would I listen to gangsta rap except to engage in vicarious thrill-seeking?  Isn't that why we all listen to it?

And is it really necesary for you to come at me with gay-baiting comments?  Also, you tell me "wanna see guns go watch Scarface or something"?  Maybe I should say, you wanna see naked chicks, go watch porn.
