Mod chips for PS2??????

im thinking of chipping my PS2......but i am wondering if anybody has done this to theirs......and can u really play burned games? also.........i saw two options to be able to chip your PS2:
to solder a chip inside......or some other thing ive been seeing a "no solder" mod?
anybody know if it will work da same or is there a difference!!!!
