Anybody watches movies on the computer??
« on: June 27, 2002, 10:19:01 AM »
I already downloaded some cool movies from KazaA, i watch them on my 15" moniter, but i wanna buy a card with TV-out so i can watch them on my TV.

Does those tv-out things work good? Do you need a really new tv or something? or a real fast computer?

And where do ya`ll get your movies? any good channels on mIRC where i could get them?

TV out quality varies between different card manufacturer depending which chip they buy for the card.  You can improve the output using a program called TVTool.  You need a tv with an external input a yellow rca plug on the front as video in is the most common way of doing it.

In terms of speed of your computer, if it can play the film on the monitor then outputting to TV will need no more power assuming your new card is as quick (or quicker) as the one you replace.  I have a feeling ATI cards are supposed to have good TV out but have a read of reviews before buying.

Are you sure you've got all the right drivers installed for it and are switching the output across correctly ?

Post some more details of the problem and your system setup.

It depends on your GFX card how you enable it, on the Hercules Geforce I use, if you boot with no monitor connected then it just uses the PC but if your monitor is connected it will default to the monitor.  Try looking in the 'display' control panel/settings/advanced and see if there is anything in there to choose output type.
