What song did it for you?

What song made you an official Hip-Hop fan? For me it was "The Show" by Dougie Fresh and the get fresh crew. I was into other joints as a kid like "The great adventures of Grandmaster Flash and the wheels of steel" (I did'nt know that was Hip-Hop at the time) and "Christmas rappin" by Kurtis Blow, but "The show" made me say "O.K. I'm into Hip-Hop".

I can't even remember when I heard a rap song for the first time... But these songs got me into hip hop:

Whistle - Just Buggin
Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew - The Show/La Di Da Di
Kurtis Blow with Trouble Funk - I'm Chillin (with the Transformers chorus)
Run DMC - Walk This Way
Heavy D & The Boyz - Mr. Big Stuff

Me to!

This is my timeline as a rap fan,

-at first it was all Cash Money for a long time.
-Then I was like 98% of people on dubcnn thinking the only rap that existed was old westcoast music, you know like AcGrundy ;D
-And now I listen to everything ;D  Dipset, Westcoast, Eastcoast, South

Can't forget about a song called Rap's New Generation by The Classical Two from '86... That's the first Teddy Riley production EVER I think...

Damn that shit had me reminiscing...my mom had MTV blocked from our cable back in the day too.  She had no idea how bad that fucked me up.  I couldn't see shit on the screen, but you could still faintly hear the music mixed in with heavy static.  But i didn't give a fuck about not seeing the video, but it drove me nuts not to get to hear new music back then.

Some of my first exposure to hip hop was Shawn Brown's "Rappin Duke".  If yall don't know, it's basically this dude rappin and he sounds exactly like John Wayne, and had a catchy fuckin hook.  My friend's older sister used to bump that along with "Batterram" by Toddy Tee.  Batterram is sooo fuckin sick even to this day.  Fantastic production, and a dope ass song about feds bustin down crack houses.
