DubCC Top 100 East Coast Songs - Final List
« on: September 05, 2006, 07:05:27 PM »
Well guess what, it took me a while but I finally compiled the top 100 (actually turned out to be 107 because of ties) east coast songs of all time as voted on by you, the loyal DubCC poster. Thanks again to everyone that participated. A list of this proportion would not be possible, nor would the results reflect the history of east coast hip hop, without a good number of people participating. As I stated earlier, I will be posting at least the top 100 songs from the list in that other section of the boards. If I can track down every song that received at least one vote then I will be happy to upload all of the songs that received honorable mention.

Here is a link to the original thread in case anyone is interested in what other songs were voted for.

I'll start off with a couple things I noticed while compiling the list. First off, there is no 50 Cent or G-Unit songs in the top hundred, which is a good thing in my opinion. I'm not surprised at the top 4 songs, those are pretty much a gimme regardless of the fact that this is primarily a west coast rap board. No Sugarhill Gang in the top hundred, but artists like Mr. Lif and Jedi Mind Tricks managed to sneak in at the bottom.

No Dipset = No List

I'm sorry you feel that way. There was only one Dipset song that was voted for altogether, and that was "Crunk Muzik."

And that is a GREAT track, it belongs on the list. I appreciate the list, props on doing this I appreciate the work.  And there are some legendary tracks here, but no Dipset is just a shame.  With the impact they have had and the quality of the music they have put out consitently, they deserve anywhere from 7-9 songs on this list.

this list is sad and whoever thinks a list of the 100 greatest east coast songs should have atleast 7-9 dipset tracks has no knowledge of east coast rap and the history of it the east.  and probably hasnt heard half the songs even mentioned in this list.

but props on even takin the time out to do this in the first place.  We need more postive contribution around here.  more hip hop heads
