Sunset Shady has a point.  I don't know about 90% or whatever, but he definitely shouldn't be stereotyped as having it easy just because he was white.

Like many rappers-

He grew up without a father
Grew up poor
Grew up around drugs
Been in trouble with the law
Problems with mother
Had close crew members shot and killed
Problems with drugs

Unlike other rappers-

Had rough relationship with his own mom
Had to deal with reverse racism
hip-hop fans hating him at beggining of his carear just cause he was white



So anyway, like Sunset Shady said, he's had it rough like anyone else.  Although, later in his carear he did benefit from being white, but early in his carear it was a liability.

btw, you shouldn't have to have proof of a rough childhood to be a rapper, the only condition is that if you talk about the rough life people won't respect you unless it's somewhat authentic.

haha, sounds like myself and everyone I know. One thing that sticks out about Eminem though is that he certainly was very poor. Them miles in inner-detroit are super duper poor, they're in poverty. There's a difference between being poor and the state of poverty. One of the only things that helped me throughout my teenage years was Pac's quote when he goes "although we had it rough, we always had enough". I done walked in neighbourhoods in other countries where muthafucaz is wearing jeans with sweat stains that look months old....at that age, you look at yourself and you're like I got like 5 jeans, I can't afford this and that, but I got a jean for every day of the week while these muthafucaz wear em till they disolve. Anyway.....

Okay fine, let's pretend this is true: Eminem's childhood was tougher than 90% of these rappers. Fine, he's also richer than 90% of these rappers. Its' not where you're from - its where you're at. If you think about it he really did. All you hear about in most rappers song's is about how tough or rough they're lives have been in the streets. How come no one ever gives any respect to Em for makin it out of the nightmare of a childhood that he had? You look at him and see that he's white and automatically think hes soft or hes fake or whatever. Check your history son. Em is from the school of hard knocks and had it much rougher than your favorite rapper, so next time before you yap, check the facts and show some respect.
