Ramadaan Mubarrak to all the Muslims at the forum
« on: September 22, 2006, 06:36:30 PM »
Congratulations brothers, the Ramadaan is here.  I time when we experience the mercy of Allah, have many of our sins forgiven, and can recieve some protection from the hellfire.  We are in a constant state of worship while we are fasting, so this is a great oppurtunity to get closer to Allah.

When we are hungry we depend on Allah to sustain us and when we satisfy our hunger we are grateful to Allah.  So may Allah allow us to gain the full benefit from our fasting in this month.  Everyday we have two things to look forward to when we wake up in the morning; breaking our fast and satifying our hunger, and the reward we will recieve from Allah in the next life for our efforts.  A caution to brothers, to not overeat at night time, and make sure they are lowering their gazes and gaurding their toungues so that they can gain the full benefit from the fast.

Assalamulaikum.

Isn't Ramadan tomorrow?

we go by the lunar calendar, so our days start in the night.
first fast is tomorrow for Sunni brothers and sisters.
Shias will start either Sunday or Monday.

Isn't Ramadan tomorrow?

Earlier tonight we started Ramadaan at my local masjid by doing what is called a Taraweeh prayer, which is an extra long prayer, because during these prayers the whole Qu'ran will be recited during the month of Ramadaan; in order (in some cases multiple times).

Fasting starts in the morning.

The Qu'ran, ofcourse does not say that.

In some regions they have Islamic government, and television and media are definitely a serious hinderance to people in their worship.  People get so caught up watching all types of gossip, soft porn, and sensationalized news pieces, that they forget about their own lives and worshipping Allah.  So therefore, some efforts are made at times in Muslim regions to reduce the amount of television watched.

What do you eat during ramadaan?
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Fake people don't care about growth and maturity.  They exist on the most superficial level of satisfying their base desires and never advance to the next stage in their development.  This society encourages that kind of behaivor with the emphasis it places on being a constant consumer.  Christmas was supposed to be a holiday to commemorate Jesus but it's became a holiday of excess.

Ramadaan is the opposite.  It is the month where Muslims get by with less, live more simply, sympathize with those in need, and learn to exzibit control over their desires by modifying them into more lofty pursuits of the soul.

What do you eat during ramadaan?

After the sunsets and before the sunrises we can eat in the same way we eat throughout the rest of the year.  During Ramadaan there are blessings in feeding a fasting person so people are always cooking good food for others to serve them to break their fast, inviting people to dinner, and having community meals.

But to break the fast, the first thing we usually eat is just a few dates and some water.  Then we go and pray our forth prayer of the day.  Then after the prayer we may go and eat a full meal.

As a Poor Righteous Teacher, I don't have to give a shit about Ramadaan.  I am Blackman, and as a GOD, I am in full control of my destiny and the devil can never take that away from me.  Therefore, I do not need to perform such a ridiculous and masochistic act of teaching myself "self-control".
