Egypt bans European papers for comments on Islam
« on: September 24, 2006, 11:09:11 PM »
CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt has banned editions of two French and German newspapers, Le Figaro and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, because of articles deemed insulting to Islam, the state news agency MENA said on Sunday.

Under a decree issued by Information Minister Anas el-Feki, the two editions will not be able to enter the country, it said.

"They published articles which disparaged Islam and claimed that the Islamic religion was spread by the sword and that the Prophet ... was the prophet of evil," it added.

The edition of Le Figaro, dated September 19, contains an opinion piece on Islam and the Prophet Mohammad by French philosopher and high school teacher Robert Redeker.
"Merciless warrior, pillager, murderer of Jews and polygamist -- that is how Mohammad portrays himself in the Koran ... Hatred and violence live in the book by which every Muslim is educated, the Koran," Redeker wrote.

The edition of the German newspaper, dated September 16, contains an article by German historian Egon Flaig looking at how the Prophet Mohammad was a successful military leader.

Flaig presents other arguments supporting the view that Islam has had a violent history.

The Egyptian agency said: "The minister of information said that he would not allow any publication that insults the Islamic religion or calls for hatred or contempt of any religion to be distributed inside Egypt."

It did not link the articles to Pope Benedict's speech in Germany on September 12, in which he quoted a Byzantine emperor as making similar remarks about Islam and the Prophet Mohammad.

The Egyptian government rarely bans mainstream European newspapers or magazines.

Peep up the history of the Middle East, it has always been ridden with authoritarian regimes, blatant censorship is the norm. Big fucking deal. Middle Eastern governments have always had to bend to the Muslim population, because their population is Muslim obviously they don't want negative articles shitting on their way of life, too much to handle when US bombs are shitting on houses and 'credible white men' are spurting shit from their mouths over the televsion.

Damn Muslims!!!

How Sharon's ghost must rejoice at the world turning upon the Muslim. When you die suck Sharon's dick in hell.

So what if Mohammed had a genius military mind. So what if Islam had a violent history, so does EVERY religion. You are fucken fool if you think Islam is the only religion without a violent past, a fucken fool. He was notorious for NOT slaughtering people after they had fought him and killed heaps of his men, when he emerged victorious he did spare the pleading masses.

Damn Muslims? Damn fucken egotistical arrogant obese American Bible Rapture mind fucks and pain in the world's ass whining bitch-men who hide behind the world's regret of the Holocaust. Of course Muslims are sensitive as pussy-whipped he-bitches at theis point in time, Mossad framed them for the most horrendously spectacular terrorist attack in US history, and now the world is against them, culturally and militarily. Defeating your own personal ignorance, having empathy and understanding are the keys to seeing through the shroud. Unfortunately ignorance is easier for the weak.

^damn dude, you got some good points, but the notion that self crticism is "too much" for muslims to handle right now doesn't change the fact that their culture does need to wake up. constant censorship leads to little bitches like tech who think they can call bullshit on anything the US does while at the same time ignoring their own ass backwards people. It will only lead to more problems for them.

^^^For real, for real.

The thing is though we are the aggressors in the Middle East. This is obvious to those who havent let their minds already be consumed with the lies. We are the aggressors, so Islam is not going to focus inward and self-criticise itself at this point in time, hell no, they are going to stand their ground and fight back with equal ignorance, exactly what anybody in that situation does.

It is ridiculous to criticise Muslims as a whole because they are not united really, people's interpretation of Islam differs extremely from country to country, region to region, rich to poor. Throughout history relationships between religions have always been sensitive because religion is such a persuasive and effective medium for those who weild power.

Peep the history of the Middle East, authoritarian regimes have always been the norm. Often set-up by the US or not. The problem is the authoritarian nature of these regimes and the fact that they use Islam as a means to consolidate their influence over the ignorant masses, Islam isnt the probelm itself. There are genuine fuckwits like the Bali-bomber, he is just plainly insane. But there are also genuine Islamic defenders of their people and land, these ones are of the most concern to the Zionists and demonising Islam only generates demon looking extremists, you gotta make your enemy look like an enemy to your people and your allies. So the hatred of the Muslims will continue because this is what the Zionists need in order to keep the west fighting its battles for them.

It is also hell unfair to criticise Muslims because they are not united under a certain theological code like the Catholics, people's interpretation of Islam differs extremely from country to country, region to region, rich to poor. Throughout history relationships between religions have always been sensitive because religion is such a persuasive and effective medium for those who weild power.
