The UK hip hop sound is all 'grime' and it's an acquired taste. There are a lot of up and coming artists and some have some lyrical ability but better than the West Coast? No way.

no dont get confused..theres artists dat do both...but its very different...u could never describe terra firma or ty as "grime"

which brings me to the "hyphy" movement bein a complete rip off or the grime sound...

an from what ive heard they should leave it alone...

thats the problem..the west dosent have its own sound anymore...

an no-one has pointed out any artists comin thru besides the 1s i listed..ill even add 1 4 you..

LIL E

but if he gets released id be suprised..

what is hilarious..is ive posted here 4 years..an u guys defendin the west are the same guys who make the "westcoast is dead" "how can we bring the westcoast back?" threads.....

Nah, I'm from the UK, but I don't know as much about the homegrown scene as I'd like apart from some battered Hijack tapes from when I was 11.

The problem for me is finding new artists and then tracking down their CDs. I like HHC mag a lot - the US hip-0hop magazines pale in comparison. Where do you get your info from Mack?

Is that HHC as in HipHopConnection? Shiet, I haven't seen that in yonks.

I haven't heard much UK hip hop so I can't really pass judgement. Even if I have, I still dun believe I'd put them over the WC.

Yeah. I subscribed to it as a kid, til I was about 18. Didn't read another copy til last month. The writing is so much better than XXL or The Source, the interviews are hotter and there's a lot more in it full stop. Can't argue with free CDs on the cover either.

basically the only uk people i have time for are likes of kano and sway because ive followed them since i was at school...
people like ghetto and jme aint much homie, they are okish over grime but we are talking bout real rap here.. yeh your right about west isnt doing much now and listing all these artists that may not drop albums but honestley they have got much more talent then anyone from the uk so comparing isnt an option...
+ the british production is another thing denting their credability, isnt too many big names doing many things to be honest

see.....thats a well structured argument.....

JME....im taking his age into consideration....hes seems to keep gettn betta..an hes rolln wit the right people(skepta.klashnekoff, sizzla etc)

Ghetto...ghetto is just fiyah...cant see why any1 wouldnt like him...

Kano ft Ghetto-ghetto kid
Akala ft Ghetto and Big Seac-Knowbody
Ghetto ft Katie Pearl-on the road

all dope tracks where he shines imo...

and production wise...lot of grime ppl slackin....id agree....but theres some dope hea(davinche, low deep,JT,Mike GLC).....but yer if anything needs improvin it would be production..but dats part of the appeal i feel...the fact its not so polished...it still has that rawness..it feels like music from the streets for the streets..

an whens the last time u could say dat about a snoop track...
