Man Charged In Chainsaw Attack To Car

WAITSFIELD, Vt. (AP) -- A Vermont woman is OK, but her car has seen better days.

The woman's 22-year-old boyfriend is accused of attacking her car with a chainsaw in a convenience store parking lot. The woman was in the vehicle at the time but emerged unharmed.

The man, Brody Burke, pleaded not guilty Friday to domestic assault and other charges. They include unlawful mischief for damage to a vehicle, assault to a police officer, and simple assault on a bystander.

A prosecutor said Burke struck a man who tried to intervene during the attack, and kicked two officers during his arrest.

Burke was jailed on charges of violating an earlier probation order.
