normal position is left hand near the gear stick (shifter in the US? ) and the right elbow on window sill (dont forget we sit onthe right here too.. ) and my thumb just above the middle bit of the steering wheel

if i'm cruising the motorway and just taking it easy on a straight road i may just use my thumb to steady the wheel..

if'm driving fast.. both hands on the wheel most of the time unless i'm anticipating a gear change

Since here in Ontario, we have 3 classes of license to get and I've only got the second, I try and keep 2 hands on until I get my full license, but it's a hard habit since I prefer being relaxed when I drive.

I drive a standard so its automatically one hand on the wheel and one on the stick

sometimes i dont even touch the steering wheel, like when i'm on the highway and the road is straight i only touch it to take it back straight in line

Yeah I use both hands when I'm driving faster than 90 mph.

Otherwise it's 2 o'clock or 6 o'clock balllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnn.
