What's up with Strong Arm Steady?
« on: December 06, 2006, 08:07:09 AM »
Anybody have any new info on their album, potential release date, etc.? Last I heard X had left the group and they had been signed to Talib Kweli's label Blacksmith. Since then, I haven't heard any new music or info from them. Maybe I've just been sleeping. Anyone know where I can cop their recent mixtapes online, like the Dilated/SAS mixtape they did?

Hopefully Phil will come out with his next album soon. "Aromatic" was so dope that I wish I had it on me right now to bump...

Phil is better than a lot of rappers, more people gotta get him on guest appearances

his verse on Hi-Tek's album was tight

Like I said, I haven't heard much recent stuff from them. In terms of older material, be sure to check out the following tracks:

* "I Can't Believe." This was a track taken from Phil's "Aromatic" debut. X, Krondon, and Phil go back and forth over a brilliant Khalil production. Definitely check this one out.
* "Bonus Track." I don't know the official title of this track - it's a bonus from the "L.A. Ballin" mixtape. Planet Asia, Phil The Ag, and Krondon all drop impressive verses, while Chace Infinite drops the hook, over a hard-hitting beat.
* "You Won't Last." taken from Chace Infinite's solo mixtape with Muggs. Think it was called "Sole Assassin". This was ANOTHER example of Xzibit dropping a dope mixtape verse and going on to recycle it on his album. I'm sure he used his verse here again somewhere on "Full Circle." Chace and Krondon also come nice. Krondon haters should check this cut out - he doesn't come as 'angry' as normal here.
* "You Can't Stop Me." The four central members (at the time) are all featured on this one. Kron, Phil, and Mitchy provide verses, while X provides a nice hook. Another dope Khalil production.
* "Shame." One of the earlier Kweli and Steady collaborations. This one is a nice posse cut, featuring Chace, Asia, Phil, Krondon, and Talib. Da Riffs orchestra-like sounds are a plus, too.

Anyway, I definitely recommend searching those cuts out.

wow. These dudes are amazing. The first thing I heard from them, was their multiple appearances on X's W.O.M.D...And I thought they were dope. Check out "Beware Of Us" from that album (If you haven't heard it already). Mitchy Slick's U.S.S. & Phil Da Agony's Aromatic are both very dope as well.

Talib Kweli Presents
Blacksmith: The Movement
Featuring Talib Kweli, Jean
Grae & Strong Arm Steady

'BK Emcee' Talib Kweli is one of mixtapes' unlikely heroes. With the underground emcees such as Talib Kweli not usually taking to the mixtape circuit that often, Talib has always been opposite of that stereotype.

Releasing classic mixtapes under The Beautiful Mixtape moniker, Talib Kweli was able to keep his name in streets when his musical projects got snagged in record label red tape. Back with his own label imprint now, Blacksmith is the name, and his gang is heavy.

Comprised of Strong Arm Steady's Mitchy Slick, honorary Alkaholik Phil Da Agony, hard-hitter Krondon and the femcee jeanius Jean Grae, Blacksmith is the new movement Talib is pushing as he waits to collaborate with the Mighty Mos for Blackstar pt. 2.

This mixtape features 20+ exclusive records from Talib Kweli, Jean Grae & Strong Arm Steady.
