Pair of Death Row bodyguards arrested

A rap producer's bodyguards were arrested early Tuesday after they were involved in a fight with security officers at offices belonging to Death Row Records, authorities said. The bodyguards, who are ex-felons, were arrested and booked for investigation of possession of a stolen firearm. Their names were not immediately released. Police said the fight began shortly after 1 a.m. between the bodyguards and the security crews who work for Death Row Records, said Sgt. Joe Klorman of the Police Department's West Valley station. The security officers subdued the bodyguards and confiscated two handguns from the men, Klorman said. Police were called to the scene and discovered that the guns were stolen last year from a North Hollywood store. Klorman said both suspects had visible signs they had been in a fight. Neither man was taken to a hospital. The record label run by rap music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight has been plagued with problems. Knight served five years in prison for violating probation by getting into an altercation in a Las Vegas hotel. Hours later, one of Death Row's biggest stars, Tupac Shakur was gunned down in a drive-by shooting as he rode in Knight's car. The rap label also has seen its share of defections, including Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg. (AP)
