January 11, 2007 - Electronic Arts has announced today that it'll be bringing two additional, different versions of its forthcoming The Godfather game to Sony's and Nintendo's next-gen consoles. The Godfather The Don's Edition will hit PlayStation 3 exclusively, while The Godfather Blackhand Edition will be headed only to Nintendo's Wii.

The Blackhand Edition will give an enhanced combat experience with motion-based Blackhand Control by integrating Nintendo's innovative Wii Remote. Both of these new versions will offer brand new ways to progress from Soldier to Don as you gain control of the streets of New York. You'll follow the path of an Enforcer or Operator, each with its own unique perks and abilities to earn. You'll also be able to chat up specific characters to get the skinny on dirty cops, take down two additional revised compounds of rival Families, execute five new contract hits, and call in larger Corleone Hit Squads when the going gets tough.

In its press release, EA strangely said that The Don's Edition will see players "manhandle [their SIXAXIS] controller to manhandle [their] opponent." And in regards to the Wii version, it said, "For improved, hyper-intuitive Blackhand Control in The Godfather Blackhand Edition, use gestures with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to really beat down your opposition, or point directly at the screen using the Wii Remote for pinpoint firearm accuracy."

The games are all based on the classic film by Paramount Pictures and the critically-acclaimed book by Mario Puzo. Look out for the titles in late March 2007.
