Fuck a club banger. Fuck a joint for the bitches. Fuck a street single. The only way you can categorize this shit is a fucking ANTHEM!!!!!!

When I say I'm droppin a bomb this time, you better know I'm droppin a bomb. This shit is raw yet smooth as hell. The joint I'm droppin today is "Uptown Anthem" by Naughty By Nature. Lyrically, there aren't many Hip Hop joints that are ever touching this song when you think of the hard hitting raps. The delivery and flow are completely unfukwitable. Insane. Treach had people shaking in their fuckin boots when he ripped the mic like this (which is basically what he did from 91-94). One of the most overlooked and underappreciated MC's EVER to touch the mic. This joint nicely sums up what he was at that time.

Production wise, KayGee drops another classic. From the first notes in the intro, you know something is about to knock your ass in the head. It starts with a really slick keyboard intro - it sets the tone beautifully. Then he switches the font to a more organ sound, then brings in the hand claps, then BOOM! That beat drops simultaneously while Treach decides he's gonna annihilate that motherfucker. You might need to check your draws after that shit cuz it's nasty. The beat is layered seamlessly - several sounds and melodies looped, but they all fit PERFECTLY.

This song is an MC bustin his ass off, and the producer understanding melody and emotion and tying it all together. This is real Hip Hop.

Treach is a beast, and I really like his style, which is very different from the other stuff I know.And I gotta check more shit from Naughty By Nature, cause everything I've heard from them has been top notch

Man, I didn't even know there was a video for this! Thanks for bringing the Juice soundtrack back into my mind. I need to listen to it again - it had some crazy bangers. There's only one joint on there that I feel is even more noteworthy than this Naughty By Nature track... Know The Ledge by Eric B. & Rakim. That's a crazy album man.

BET used to play this video alot back in '93.

It was a part of the Juice soundtrack, which also had that classic joint by Erick B and Rakim, Know the Ledge.
