Who needs allies?

The discoveries about corporate America making great profits in Iraq's anarchy really leave you with something to think about. Remember the way the war in Iraq started: hardly justified to the people, with not a lot of support from America's historical allies. Now that the smoke has cleared up somewhat, the whole war might seem more suspicious than ever.

The hardly justifiable public reason for starting the war was so dodgy, America was sure not to find a lot of allies. The allied countries knew they would have to motivate their actions to their electorate, with all consequences. This war simply wasn't justifiable, at least not to a country in which the people really speak from their hearts. That is, a smoothly functioning democratic country.

So how was "The Coalition of the Willing" formed? I don't know the exact backgrounds of most of these countries, but looking back now, it makes perfect sense. Every single country that played a noteworthy role in this coalition, was internally divided, or at least looking for more unity. For these governments a war would definately be useful, to create a common goal for the people, to remove the focus from their internal dividance. Think about it... The most important countries in this war were the USA, UK, South Korea, Italy, Poland, Ukrain, Netherlands... They're either ex-communist states in diplomatic need of important western allies, or pro-American western countries recently suffering from uproars.

It's a small coalition, and most of these countries played a minimum role in conquering Iraq. That's obvious, because the actual war was controversial after all. The US and the UK were the ones really doing the dirt, most of the others couldn't justify participating.

But now Saddam is dead, his regime is long gone, and anarchy rules. The US are the ones held responsible for the current state of anarchy, because they act like they really believed in a neo-classical working of society. They were the ones in control of Iraq right after the war ended. It obviously didn't work, and now American corporations are the ones taking advantage of 'rebuilding' Iraq.

But what if there had been a great amount of allies during the phase of conquering Iraq? Obviously, the US would have had to give each of these potential allies it's share if that were the case. Imagine German, Spanish and French companies now making profit of in Iraq.. That's directly hurting the American economy, because those profits could have been America's.

All this leads me to one conclusion. America may have purposely used a dodgy reason to invade Iraq, just to be sure of little allies on their side. If you're going to invade and occupy a wealthy territory, you wouldn't want to share it with a lot of others, right? So an unjustifiable reason to keep most possible allies away, was just what they needed.

You don't want to have more allies than you really need to win a war...

i don;t think so remember the firsts days boasting of having a big calition but it was full of insignificant contributions i believe afganistan was even included

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?
