i've gone off Jay lately, but his flow is sicker than anybody else's. If BIG was alive, Jay may not have been as successful because Biggie's flow was way more advanced, but you can't deny that Jay ripped Reasonable Doubt even if he was talking shit half the time.

Pluss puffy has produced a lot of hits and has his own signature sound..

- Reasonable Doubt; cool ass album with Jay-Z having a very good flow.

- Vol. 1; good album, not outstanding though.

- Vol. 2; commercial album, imo its better then Vol. 1

- Vol. 3; has some good songs on it, but most of the Timbaland beats there suck, i dont like much songs off this album...

- The Dynasty; more of a compilation, still a good album, i think only 2 or 3 songs i skip, most is cool, the beats, flow, lyrics.

- Blueprint; good beats, nice flow and some ok lyrics, its a good effort, best since Vol. 2 imo.

- Blueprint 2; trash. No need to say more. Has stolen song-concepts (2Pac, anyone?) plus most of it sounds rushed.

- Black Album; dopest beats out around that time. Consistent album, i think its one of his best work. Not too long, not too short, just a great album.

- Kingdom Come; even Dre couldnt save it for me, this album is pure trash, flow is weak, lyrics not outstanding and the beats arent really super either...

Jay-Z has had some good albums, and some pretty weak ones. He has had a good flow, lately hes lacking that though, even though on the Black Album its not really bad. He has had great beats on his albums, and has had some pretty weak ones. Lyrics were never his strength. Next to his "stealing" (some may see it as honoring the original writers, its still a cheap wa yto write your songs with, no matter how you view it, imo) he never was really saying much with his lyrics. But many other rappers arent either. He is a businessman (together with Dame in the past) who knew how to market himself in the right way and has sold millions.

To put it shorter, hes not bad, not good either, hes just average as a rapper. But definately not the worst rapper, though he is overhyped as "the best rapper alive". If anyone can claim that title its a Ya Boy, Bishop Lamont, Nas, Guru, Method Man or someone like that.

furthermore, yeah I agree he does sound really good with premier. but few people don't. and it's just cool to say dre and him don't sound good together cause he's seen as mainstream. the songs sound good, and any aspect of them that doesn't is jay's fault (stupid ad libbing and constant 'uhh's'. his voice just isn't smooth enough for him to do that constantly and be entertaining.)

Jay can't rock the mic? You are definitely on somethin', have you ever seen Fade To Black or the Hard Knock Life Tour, Jay can rock the stage with the best of 'em.  As far as his albums go, he is the most consistent rapper out right now, even tho I thought Kingdom Come was his worst album, that doesn't mean shit tho cuz it's better than 75% of other albums.  He's got a sick flow, he can spit fire, and has dope voice control, as Chuck D said:  Jay is the KING
