Damm people are flopping hard. However...most of these albums either got lackluster promotion, or weren't very strong albums like that. Most people probably don't even know Redman had an album.

Please believe me, the record industry is dying, but it's not just because of the internet and illegal downloads, which were pretty strong 5-6 years ago as well. Most albums that have come out haven't gotten much push at all, and most of the ones that did weren't always good albums. Jay-Z still sold 700 K, which is more than he ever sold in his life in the first week...but people realized that the album wasn't as great as his others, and sales dropped off. Game sold a whole lot for being on his own and not having a strong set of singles like that..but his sales dropped off some because of his lack of strong singles.

i think the industry is going to do away with albums.....it's going to go back to just making singles now, it's more efficient and a lot of the money that was geared towards producing and handling a WHOLE album can now be concentrated on helping out 1-4 singles at a time. i mean a dre or a neptunes track is like what, 6 figures, okay if a record company accomidates just THAT for a song, then spends the rest of the money that would have gone towards producing filler for an album into promotion and marketing/organizing tours and so fourth the profite potential will grow. plus it's easier to sell a .99 cent song or a 1.99 song or whatever on itunes. or put out a maxi single for 5 bucks. it's easier to sell music if it's cheaper and all the fat is cut away.

albums will be what the double album /box set is now.... a rareity that should only be put out by great artists /bold artists.  the music business is coming full circle because this is what the industry was like 50 years ago.
