One of the first things America did after invading Iraq and Afganistan is that they made sure they put TV's in everyone's houses, even in the remote regions of the country.  They know that television is the greatest form of mind control in existence today.

It's funny people call the Muslim lifestyle extreme.  The most extreme thing to me is the lifestyle of most Americans, they sit and watch other people's lives on TV all day, and don't even know what reality is, because the television is a mind-numbing device where they can occupy themselves with the lives of celebrities on television, and stay distracted from what's real.

I don't even have a television hooked up in my house.  Because if I start watching it, I waste all my time, and when I turn it off I feel like a zombie and all my energy is zapped.

i download anything i want to watch, just because commercials are so mindnumbing that its frustrating, most of them theres no way any person would ever react that way in real life.   tv news is a joke, most of it is just advertising....."news" stories on new products or drugs coming out

i only watch hockey on tv, we mostly just have one for dvds and video games

You can apply the same thing to europeans as well infinite...I used to watch a hell of a lot of tv but as you rightly said it leaves you feeling brain dead and tired. i still watch tv of course but maybe for about an hour a day...I don't even watch too many movies and have practically stopped playing on my playstation 2 also.

I don't have a TV anymore.  When I moved to my current place (about 4 years ago now), I didn't bring the TV that I had shared with my ex, and I haven't bought a new one since.  It doesn't really make much sense to have a TV in this day and age.  If I want news, I read the web sites of the news agencies.  If there's a good show on TV, I download episodes, either legally (iTunes) or off Rapidshare.  If I want to watch DVDs, I can play them on my laptop.  About the only reason I might need a TV is to watch ACC games and boat races on ESPN, and then I usually just go to other people's houses cause that's the kind of thing you do as a social event.  Given the fact that I spend almost all of my money on guns, explosives, and printing propoganda for my revolution, I don't see myself putting down any money for a TV anytime soon.

There is a lot of bullshit on the television today, but that is why you have 600 channels to choose from. There has to be something remotely interesting on one of them. But after I moved, I didn't have a TV and after a while it was easy to forget to turn it on even when I actually wanted to watch a show. Plus Viacom, NewsCorp, ClearChannel, and most of Turner are pretty much unwatchable.

I feel you bro, i haven't really been watching TV for about 4 years now, only sometimes i'd watch an episode of Family Guy, South Park, or Colbert Report... but you can get that shit over the net anyway, so TV is pretty much becoming absolete IMO. More than 90% is complete and utter junk, and i'm not even gonna talk about the news, so therefore TV is pretty  much for watching movies now, at least for me.

It's typical how most people here don't want to stop watching tv at all - they just don't want to be dependant on the tv channels and their commercials..
