In talking to some of my fellow Hip-Hop heads about classic albums and songs, Dr. Dre's The Chronic usually comes up, with "Dre Day" being one of the favorite songs on the album. When discussing the track I realized that a lot of Hip-Hop heads totally missed the diss to Ice Cube, thinking that the whole last verse was directed towards Luke.

In the last verse, there are three direct references to Ice Cube. First, Snoop says "Then we gon creep to South Central", which is the part of L.A. that Ice Cube is from and also claimed in many of his songs. Second, Snoop says "On a street knowledge mission". Street Knowledge was the name of Ice Cube's label back in the early '90s, which featured his group, Da Lench Mob. If you listen The Chronic, you'll hear Dre mention a few times that "he's mobbin' not lenchin'", which is a direct reference to Ice Cube and his label. Third, Dre says "Got my chrome to the side of his White Sox hat," which alludes to the hat Ice Cube's wears in his "Steady Mobbin'" video and on the cover of a back issue of The Source.
