Babyface Sharing 'Playlist' In September
« on: August 07, 2007, 11:26:41 AM »
Veteran R&B singer/songwriter Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds is eyeing a Sept. 18 release date for "Playlist," his 11th album. Eight of the 10 songs on the Arista project are covers of decidedly non-urban songs, including Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight," James Taylor's "Fire And Rain" and Bread's "Diary."

"These songs came from memories, and these songs helped shape who I am -- and they're still shaping who I am," Edmonds says. "They shaped my past and now they're shaping my future."

Other songs included are "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (Bob Dylan), "Please Come To Boston" (Dave Loggins), "Longer" (Dan Fogelberg) and "Time in a Bottle" (Jim Croce).

The two original tracks on "Playlist" are "Not Going Nowhere," inspired by the amicable divorce between Edmonds and ex-wife Tracey, and the Iraq-themed "The Soldier Song."

"Playlist" is the follow-up to 2005's "Grown and Sexy," which has sold 287,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
