my homie got locked up

yo i needa know some things....

c my homie got locked up on thursday for stealing money at his job Sears (hes a cashier) and he had a court date yesterday...i tried calling his cell phone today but it was off like all the other times i tried...i called his cousin (who hes living with) on sunday and thats when i heard the news of him being locked up...i dunno how much dude stole but i need to know what could the consequences be? if anyone knows...i know it aint too much info.. but hes been in the county 4 a minute...thanks

thanks to those that helped...and yes he is an idiot...im from cali by the way...its his his 1st time...unfortunately dude is fuckin up....id figure they wouldnt punish him too bad..
