If I'm Jimmy, I go ahead and drop Curtis.  I don't expend anymore money on the promotion.  Let 50 do it all himself.  If the album does well so be it.  But even if it doesn't do as well as they need it to in order to recoup, at least they're not throwing more money away on it.

And if it fares much worse than his previous efforts, 50 still has one more album per his contract.  If I'm Jimmy, I never release that album.  I'd hold 50 hostage to it, or make him buy out the contract in order to move somewhere else.  And at the same time, if the album doesn't do that well by 50 standards, he won't be looked at as the powerhouse that he once was. 

50 is really playing himself if he thinks he punk Jimmy Iovine.
