I respect that you think that for real. But check it out:

-Black people being integrated into 'white' society was/is completely harmless.
but whites/conservatives were blocking them just to do it, just to be douches.

Gays are not out there hurting/raping/violating people ANY more than straight people, so why should they be persecuted/banned from marriage etc.? it doesn't harm anyone. THAT'S the commonality.

You could further argue that gays don't have a choice to be gay. Many people get to a certain age and they have to deal with the fact that that's what turns them on. There's BILLIONS of people on this earth, it makes perfect sense that some are gonna come out different and the fact that we still don't know how to deal with that as a species is really saddening.

Furthermore, in the 50s and 60s, people thought integrating blacks was going too far, now it's commonplace and people who don't respect other races/blacks are looked upon as old school/living in the past/ignorant. It WILL be the same thing with gays in 40 years. People will look back and say 'why did these cooks, teachers, and interior decorators get so much shit in the first place?
