2001 is NOT a classic
« on: July 15, 2001, 05:16:06 PM »
i hear alot of homies sayin 2001 is a classic, i dont know about yall but i dont think so,
i mean it is amazing, the best in a while, but too much tracks i was feeling, like big egos, murder inc, i mean they are not bad songs but they dont belong on a classic, perhaps it is a classic considering how it was produced, mixed and what not, but af for the music, too much tracks i didnt like

big egos
murder inc
forgot about dre (its a surprise but i hate it) >:(

peace

exactly... in a few years that album will still be in your player while others that came out around this time will just collect dust... a classic album doesn't have to CHANGE ANYTHING ... no music can... the chronic (original) is a classic because the topics and themes that were portrayed in the music were being ignored on the outside. On the otherhand, Nas's illmatic is a classic the same way 2001 is. The music is dope, the lyrics are dope and meaningfull and it was a success. Thats my two cents

Hell yeah...2001 was an above average album but nowhere near a classic. I am suprised people on this website are agreeing with you, last week I posted about Dre falling off and everyone jumped down my throat.
