Honest to God i was goin post this question tonite,  i was thinkin about it walking home from 7-11,  but i feel it is a classic.  Look at the Chronic many peeps felt when it first dropped it wasnt a classic but now many of those same peeps feel it is one of tha greatest if not tha greatest rap album ever.  Five year from now when every1 is using dre's new style a lot of you will change your opinion

2001 is NOT classic, not even near-classic. Its good, but not classic. When I think of classics, I think of The Chronic, Illmatic, 36 Chambers, Fear Of A Black Planet, Liquid Swords, E.1999 Eternal, All Eyez On Me, Moment Of Truth, ATLiens, Doggystyle, Ready To Die, and so forth. All of these, and many more, are better albums than 2001.

No, your entitled to your opinion, but im just wondering, what do you base it on?? 2001 is a good album, but the best in the last 5 years?? Thats saying its better than the likes of Moment Of Truth, ATLiens, Aquemini, Stankonia, Ironman, The 7 Day Theory, Its Dark And Hell Iz Hot, Art Of War, Murda Muzik, etc etc.....all of which are either classic or near classic albums. Well, its July of 2001 right now. Basically, between July of 99' and right now, the best hip hop album to come out within that time frame, in my opinion is Stankonia....which is, musically and lyrically, an unbelievable album.
