Mos Def Concert To Celebrate J Dilla
« on: November 15, 2007, 03:58:31 AM »
Brooklyn MC and actor Mos Def is going to perform a tribute to J Dilla on January 21 at Ann Harbor's Hill Auditorium in Michigan.
Mos Def will be joined by his Big Band, an eight-piece brass ensemble, according to the Detroit News.

"I know it's going to be great," says Dilla's mother, Maureen Yancey. "I will be behind anything that they do."

Dilla, born James Yancey, died nearly 2 years ago in February 2006 from complications from lupus. His work as a producer influenced many hip-hop producers from the Neptunes' Pharrell Williams to Kanye West.

Tickets, $25-$45, go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday online at ums.org, by phone at (734) 764-2538 or in person at the League Ticket Office at 911 N. University Ave. on the campus of U-M.
