question for people with hdtv and direct tv.

I just got a 42' toshiba hdtv and i have the nice cables and all that so its ready to be set up,  only problem is  direct tv wont be able to bring the  hd-dvr  box for another week.

anyways my question is could I still hook up the hd tv wih the hd dvd player and all that and just use my current regular direct tv dvd box with the hdtv tv? 
I do realize that I obviously wont get my direct tv channels in high definition until I have the direct tv hd reciever hooked up.   but would for the time being if I used my current direct tv dvr box on the hd tv, would it at least work?

It should work...why don't you find out for yourself, though? You don't even need swag to try it out.
