MR. CAPONE-E SHOW CANCELLED IN COLORADO

Hi Power Entertainments C.E.O., Mr. Capone-e has made National Headlines because his show in Greeley, Colorado was canceled by the town's Mayor. District Attorney Ken Buck went as far as describing Mr. Capone-e as "FILTH". He went further and said that Capone-e talks about "Shooting police officers and degrading acts with women". However, what is intriguing is that the District Attorney and the news program made the illogical connection between this concert and the death of a 16-year old girl in a Sureno fight.

The question is, if Snoop Dogg booked the same town hall, would the news be making references to an unrelated Crip death which occured 1 year ago? The answer to that is no.

So why is Chicano rap fueling so much fear and censorship?

Well first of all, the media is not accustomed to the raw Chicano gang culture and lifestyle. We are used to seeing African American thugs in the media so much that we have become desensitized to that particular image. However, the image and reality of a Chicano gangster has not been glorified in the same way as African Americans, so it is seen as a real threat and not so much as entertainment. Furthermore, Chicano Rap music is deeply gang related and much more hardcore and explicit in both its sound and lyrical content.

It is sad that the first massive exposure for Chicano Rap is one which calls one of our biggest stars "FILTH" and dismisses our musical genre as nothing more than gang related non-sense and negativity. The test for the future will be whether Chicano Rap can shake the stereotypes caused by its raw explicit lyrics and gang affiliation to become a more widely accepted form of music.

Not sure about it... He has a bad reputation too even if he soften his image. Remember that he is still banned in U.K and Australia if I remember well.

Anyway, it's probably like Nautica said, they want to avoid gathering all Colorado's gang bangers which could turns out to be out of police's hands.
