New York, NY- RZA has returned as Bobby Digital with a national tour and a new album on the way. The famed producer and member of the Wu-Tang Clan is hitting the road May 30th with Killarmy, Wu-Tang Killa Bees, Shahiem & Black Nights on a month-long tour to promote music from his KOCH debut album Digital Bullet. RZA says, “some bullets put you to sleep… this will wake you up.”

RZA’s Bobby Digital concept combines all of his artistic talents. The character of Bobby Digital is truly RZA’s invention. The film Bobby Digital was also RZA’s brainchild that he produced, wrote, directed and starred in. To accompany the film, RZA made the soundtrack in 1998, RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo, it was his debut solo release on Gee Street Records.

The history of Bobby Digital is explained in the film: While RZA is conducting experiments in a laboratory on Wu Mountain; he stumbles upon a formula for self-transformation. Dipping a blunt into this elixer of “honey” he inhales and begins to hallucinate. When he finally comes to, he is confronted by the consequence of his experiments – he has created an actual person completely independent of RZA, his name is Bobby Digital.

In The Paint President, Alan Grunblatt says, “this past year has been an extraordinary one for the RZA… the soundtrack he scored called Ghost Dog was critically acclaimed drawing comparisons to Brian Eno and Pink Floyd. The Wu-Tang album went Platinum scanning 300,000 units in its first week at retail.” It was the Clan’s first radio hit (“Gravel Pit”) which enabled the Wu-Tang to reach a completely new audience.

Time Magazine ran a 4- page feature on RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan and Spin Magazine chose RZA as one of the Top 40 Most Influential Artists recording today.

Grunblatt adds, “Digital Bullet is an extraordinary album that will appeal to alternative and Hiphop heads alike.” Featured artists on the record include: Method Man, Old Dirty Bastard, GZA and the Goodie Mob and others. The first single and video are reminiscent of the Wu-Tang style. Songs on the new CD include “Show Me Love” and the Latin flavored “La Rumba.”

RZA As Bobby Digital’s forthcoming solo album entitled Digital Bullet is set for release on August 14, 2001 on Wu-Tang/ KOCH Records/ In The Paint.
