It's not about what you meant, it's about thinking you have the ability to tell if someone is an introvert or an extrovert through reading text...LOL

Well, first of all, fuck what you heard, it's not a bad quality.

And I think experiences make you shy, not so much low self esteem and all that shit that it's supposed to mean. Experiences make you who you are.

Yes, shyness should not always be taken to be a bad quality.  Shyness can also represent humility and virtue as opposed to lewdness and arrogance.  They say the Prophet Muhammad was know for his shyness, yet he was one of the greatest world leaders history has ever known and the whole Arabian penninsulla recognized his leadership before he died.

Look at it this way, if you had a daughter would you rather her be shy or would you rather have he be loud, obnoxious, lewd, and easy.

Some Muslims believe that shyness can keep a person from evil behaivor.

So anyway, im just offering another way to look at it.

and yes, like Quiet truth said, every experience we have adds another ingredient to our personality.

Shyness and obnoxiousness aren't exactly opposites. As if someone who's not obnoxious is necessarily shy... :grumpy:

They say the Prophet Muhammad was know for his shyness, yet he was one of the greatest world leaders history has ever known

Had you had a critical mind, you would have been able to recognise that such a thing is IMPOSSIBLE. You cannot lead millions of people whilst being distrustful or wary of strangers. Or are you implying that your sacred prophet perhaps was a schizophrenic, or someone with a split ego?

Shyness is a personality trait not a condintion.

The difference, according to you, being...?

People sayin' shyness is a 'Condition'..low self esteem, no confidence, when it ain't, always. It's more a personality trait...born with, what you experienced that made you that way.

Just because someone is shy does not mean they are "distrustful and wary of strangers".  Being shy represents the Prophet's modesty.  He did not want to stare at women, or waste words talking, and was very particular about the things he said and did.

low self-esteem and no confidence tie in with shyness, in most cases.

Why, then...

"shy1 (shī) pronunciation
adj., shi·er (shī'ər) or shy·er, shi·est (shī'ĭst) or shy·est.

   1. Easily startled; timid.
   2.
         1. Drawing back from contact or familiarity with others; retiring or reserved.
         2. Marked by reserve or diffidence: a shy glance.
   3. Distrustful; wary: shy of strangers.
   4. Not having paid an amount due, as one's ante in poker.
   5. Short; lacking: Eleven is one shy of a dozen."

I thought that definition is pretty clear about shyness resembling a state of being distrustful and wary of strangers.

So you're saying the great leader, the prophet, was modest in his ways. Great and modest? Isn't greatness supposedly an extreme which allows no modesty, no compromises, nothing but straightforward greatness? So how can he be shy, yet at the same time achieve the greatest things for and with his anonymous people? I certainly hope you do see the oddness of such statements.

People sayin' shyness is a 'Condition'..low self esteem, no confidence, when it ain't, always. It's more a personality trait...born with, what you experienced that made you that way.

You don't believe in individual autonomy? You don't believe that your own thinking makes a difference in who you are and what you do - you're simply the product of biological and environmental influences? When you have feelings for a woman, that's because of your hormonal and biochemical state - not because of your actual will and your judgement? When you eat, it's because your body demands it, not because you're consciously aware of your body needing the food?

Even more, if such things were true, doesn't that more imply that shyness is a condition (something which just 'is') instead of a (consciously chosen) personality trait? Do personalities even exist according to the views you mentioned about being the product of an environment?

I seriously thought these were depraved states of psychology that were long gone. Eighty years ago, psychologists could get away with saying ridiculous stuff about humans not having a thinking faculty, but today? :grumpy:
