What was your view on the "NWA Reunion?"
« on: March 15, 2008, 11:34:15 PM »
When Chin Check dropped on the Next Friday Soundtrack, I dug the track, but I was skeptical about Snoop Dogg's role because I could not see him partaking in the political aspect of NWA.  Then, I saw them perform on Farmclub (The music show that aired on USA after RAW) and I was impressed with their presence as a group.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/PMOkWp_26Z0&amp;hl=en" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/PMOkWp_26Z0&amp;hl=en</a>

I thought that they shared the stage well, especially for having multiple individuals with star status, and I was hoping that they would drop future material.  However, I felt that it should be under a different name because I did not think that they would be able to carry the NWA legacy.

Has anyone recently thought about the potential that was there in 2000ish, with their reunion?

First off, I miss Farmclub. How the hell were they dropping N bombs on basic cable? Anyway, I thought Chin Check was DOPE! Snoop was bringing it and definitely lit a fire under those old guys asses (with all due respect). That song Hello off The Peace Disc without Snoop wasn't nearly as good. I remember reading a review of Chin Check that said Snoop was the only one bringin' the "A" in N.W.A. on that cut, but I think they all rose to the occasion. The only way it could have been better is if Yella was on it. People downplay how key his scratches were on the N.W.A. albums. If you think about it was missing from all of Dre's post N.W.A. productions. Listen for next time you're putting 1 up....

Look my nigga, we can scatter like buckshot, let's get together make a record, why the fuck not?
why the fuck not?
why the fuck not?
Why the fuck not?

N.W.A. will never be N.W.A. without Eazy-E. Chin Check was dope song tho.

But you know what I'm sayin? I think Yella doesn't fuck with any of them. I think Ren doesn't want another reunion without Eazy-E. Lil' Eazy can't stand for Eazy-E, never. Altho he's his son. We will never get that raw N.W.A. again. I want to remember them as they ended, not some reunion. But I can stand some group in their style. Some new shit with some members from N.W.A., but with switching the name. Not N.W.A.

I think West Coast needs some supergroup. You've got Tha Dogg Pound, etc. That's great, but look on the NY's groups, they got lots of it. I think West Coast is measured almost on the solo creation. I'm imagining some group of The Game, DJ Quik and Kurupt. Or some shit like that :).

I think the reunion album would've been real dope, even though Snoop can't never replace Eazy. "Chin Check" and "Hello" are both classic songs to me and i still bump them alot.

Was Snoop actually replacing Eazy? or was it NWA (Dre, Cube & Ren) with a guest feature from Snoop?

yep, Snoop was part of it too, as you can read in the dr.dre interviews topic.

I read in an interview somewhere with Yella and he said Dre never called him to participate. I'm sure he's dying for that phone call. Also, it would be kinda cheesy if Lil E stepped in for his old man IMO.

Yeah. He also produced a song for Ren. It was on Dubcnn for sure, but if I remember correct, it sucked balls, (no hatin', cause I want those guys to make dope shit).

It would have been dope but not with Snoop joining them that always seemed out of place to me and a NWA reunion would not have been complete without Yella.

"Chin Check", "Hello" & "Set It Off" were all classic tracks so I was def looking forward to the NWA reunion! IMO Snoop was the perfect choice for a new member!
