I never knew that about Cube, its very interesting that he would make a track about ghostwriters but then would have them at the same time. After reading that can't really get on Snoop because he has been very open about having writers. I know Kurupt went he went back to Death Row did have people write for him so basically those are 3 of my top 5 MC's who have had stuff written, now I have to find out about Pac, Nas and Face and I'm good LOL

I think Ben Baller said you would write for Ice Cube?
Hittman:
That was something that I was considering at that time, but he already had his writer and he was cool with that.
So that was something I ended up passing on.

The purpose of being a rapper and having a ghost writer that shit just donít match. Itís like playing football and you being a receiver but someone else catch for you. I have never used a ghost writer.. Shit itís like, common man.

Like Still DRE. One of the biggest west coast anthems of all time written by Jay-Z.

you ( and others, like HighEyeCue and Chad) may find this little story about still D.R.E. interesting (it's from Rollin' with Dre: The Unauthorized Account: An Insider's Tale of the Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of West Coast Hip Hop )

I'm gonna have to get that book. I had no idea that DOC wrote his own version of the track, I was always a little pissed that Dre had to get an east coast artist like Jay to write his comeback single but it makes more sense now

i mean, it can't be a coincidence that Dre executive produced the kingdom come right?

I've never been a huge fan of Jay but I have to admit he is a great writer, at that time there was pretty much no one touching him around 98-01 he had a perfect single it seemed for every summer during that period, I just never really liked his voice and flow too much. But he and Dre probably got friendly around that time and have remained friends since.

Well they go a ways back. Since Life & Times Of Sean Carter Vol. 3 when Dre appeared on that Watch Me song.

true, but it would have made more sense to me if Dre had hooked up with Nas again for 2001, since they used to be so close.
then again, i don't know what's going on behind the scenes  ;)

Yeah but they did distance themselves from each other after the whole "Firm Fiasco" for whatever reason. I think Jay has always been a fan of the whole DR/DPG sound and movement that he wanted to work with them.

snoop has admitted it...and i believe game uses em too..his flow/delivery is somtimes different when he rhymes on certain peoples shit...just go listen to bone thugs ft game - the streets (i think thats what its called)...i wouldnt be surprised if 90% of ALL rappers use a ghostwriter at one point or another...

I don't think you get much bigger then Dre and Eazy using ghostwriters. Ice Cube pretty much summed up his thoughts on ghostwriters on Spittin Pollaseeds:

Fuck a ghost writer
Sittin in the back, of the studio
Tryin to write a nigga rap
It's the muppet show, most niggas need a&r(a&r)
To tell them how to fuck a hoe
Ice Cube, true mc, write everything I say, even back in the day
Imma spit it, how i feel it, fuck a gimmick
You can keep your catchy lines, imma 'bout to write a rhyme
If you got backpack, tryin act black
Think you know the culture, you'z a fuckin vulture
You never a approached the mic
You dress like a dike, sayin what you don't like
Who deserves five mics, who deserves two
But the nigga wit two still can serve you
This West Coast, flow is different in the East
But in ain't no different in the streets

Cube can't say shit since his cousin DEL THE FUNKY HOMOSAPIAN ghost writtin a few tracks for him on his first album.
