Making an Oasis anthology....
« on: March 30, 2008, 07:30:59 PM »
Anyone care to make some suggestions? I'm a huge Oasis fan and im pretty sure iv heard about 75% of everything they have ever recorded so you dont need to tell me Wonderwall, dont look back in anger, Live forever etc etc.

Im looking for personal favourites that dont get much recognition, rare b sides or rare tracks in general (If you have the mp3's of them then a hookup would be quality too).

Help would be appreciated, no limit to the amount of songs on this bad boy, even if it takes 10 blank cds to make.

I've been meaning to make a Oasis B-Sides compilation for a long while. I'm pretty sure I have most of their full singles up to "Lyla" on my external hard drive. If you're interested let me know.

"Whatever" doesn't seem to be on any of their albums.

If any gets it in mp3, pm me!

Yeah, agree with every song posted so far, they will all be on it. Oasis' catalogue of b-sides is absolutely incredible, 90% of them are good enough for most bands' albums. And some of their covers are just mind blowing as well. "Whatever" wasnt on an album, it was a b-side, i just cant remember to what. Anyone know? There is a video for it, and it looks like its from the Definitely Maybe/ whats the story era.

Some b-sides i would recomend are "The Fame" which is from the Be Here Now recordings, a song called "See the Sun" which apparently Liam and Guigsy wrote as it was Oasis before Noel was there, and teh band was called Rain. Also the very first version of "Let there be love" with different words, and the words are about Noel being abused by his dad. Very powerful stuff.

Thanks for the replies, keep them coming.

That's one i havent heard, will go have a look for it just now. Thanks.

Yeah i agree with white boy, dont think Oasis sound anything like the Beatles, but they will be the first to admit that they influenced them hugely. And in a lot of early early stuff (Pre DM) there is a massive Stone Roses influence as well.
