Some PS3 Questions regarding video formats

I got the latest system version (2.20 in Europe) though my PS3 can't read H264 or Xvid codecs .. I mean Wmv, Divx, Mpeg and all these work .. Are these formats still undereable with PS3 (I thought they were  ) or do I have to change sth in my PS3 sets up
