While it may have seemed like Nas was keeping an uncharacteristically low profile since his very vocal disputes with radio stations and rival rappers earlier this summer, the Queensbridge MC was, in fact, silent but not sleeping.

Nas announced on Monday (August 12) that he'll be releasing a new album, called God's Son, on November 19.

While the album's final tracks have not been selected, the former Nasty Nas has been recording with Large Professor (one of the trackmasters who worked on his debut album, Illmatic), as well as Alchemist and Murder Inc.'s Irv Gotti.

And speaking of Gotti, does his involvement in God's Son mean it's true that Nas is now part of the Murder Inc. family? Well, on the one hand, there is a street-leaked song which features Nas claiming allegiance to "the I.N.C."  but at the same time, Nas' latest statement details that his new album will be released on Ill Will/Columbia Records, with no mention of any Murder Inc. signing at all.

So, if he is or if he will be, it's still hard to tell. Nas did, however, squash any rumors that he is leaving Columbia Records, stating, "I've always had a great relationship with Columbia and look forward to making records with them for the rest of my career."

However, when it comes to last week's pay-per-view challenge issued by rival Jay-Z on New York's radio waves (see "Jay-Z Challenges Nas To Pay-Per-View Battle During Radio Takeover"), Nas had a far more direct response: "Pay-per-view is for wrestlers and boxers. I make records. If Jay-Z wants to battle, he should drop his album the same day I do and let the people decide."

As of last week, Jay's The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse was scheduled for release on November 5, two weeks before Nas' LP is set to drop.

Change 'Murder INC' to 'Ill Will/Columbia Records'.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Nas has been hard at work in the studio for the last two months, and has his plans set on changing the game with his upcoming album, God's Son, due out on November 19th. "I'm takin it to a whole new level with this one," explained the Queensbridge rapper. "The game's become stagnant, I'm here to put an end to that. I'm doing what needs to be done on this album, taking it back to the essence."

Although still officially signed to Columbia Records, Nas has become the newest member of Murder Inc.  Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti will play a large role in the project, contributing production to 4 tracks and serving as co-executive producer alongside Steve Stoute and Nas. Additional production will come from Large Professor, The Alchemist, L.E.S., DJ Premier, and Buckwild.

Guests slated to appear on the album include Ja Rule, Ashanti, AZ, Kool G Rap, and the Bravehearts. Nas, Ja Rule, and Ashanti will film a video for "The Pledge Remix" next week. The single and video should be released the following week, and the song will appear as a bonus track on both God's Son and Ja Rule's upcoming effort, The Last Temptation. The first official single for God's Son will be "So Many Tears", an Irv Gotti produced track featuring Ashanti and AZ.

"It's some real touching topics we touching on in that song. I got the beat and I was just like damn, AZ need to get on this so I called him up, we hit the studio the next day and it was beautiful, me and [AZ] were just zoned in, we banged that track out and that was that. We was on some real s---, just about all the messed up stuff we seen throughout our lives. Irv heard the joint and he flipped and was just like 'Yo, this is incredible, but we gotta get [Ashanti] on the hook'. We got her on there, I heard the final product and I knew this had to be the single."

The video for "So Many Tears" is set to be filmed in Queens on October 15th, and it should be released along with an official single shortly thereafter.

^^^ I know, I don't want to see "The Pledge Remix", Ja, Irv and Ashanti on this album at all.

But I do like having Large Professor, Alchemist, L.E.S., DJ Premier, and Buckwild producing tracks.

Nas saying  "I'm takin it to a whole new level with this one, I'm taking it back to the essence."   This doesn't mean shit to me cause artists always say stupid shit like this for every album then they make an excuse after the album drops if it's not that good.

I'm not saying the album will be bad, I'm going to have confidence in the man who dropped two amazing albums in the last 12 months.
