Escape From Alcatraz
Fall 2002/Spring 2003

"Bay Area baritone and indie hip-hop mainstay Rasco is currently prepping his new LP, Escape From Alcatraz. The rhymer spent the last five years signed to UK based Copasetik Recordings, but severed that relationship and plans to drop his next full length on Kut Masta Kurt's Threshold Recordings.

Rasco told SOHH Escape From Alcatraz should include rhymes from Casual, Tajai, Evidence, Supastition, Planet Asia and perhaps Aceyalone. Among those contributing beats are Virginia Beach's Kleph Dollaz, Brisk One, Kut Masta Kurt and Jake One. The album should hit shelves in late fall/early spring 2003." (News from sohh.com)

Some news from boombap.com

"The production on the album will be handled by Kut Masta Kurt, Jake One, Protest and Brisk One while guests will include label mate Supastition, Tajai, Casual, Evidence and fellow Cali Agent, Planet Asia. The album will probably hit stores somewhere late this year or early next year. All vinyl projects from Rasco's Pockets Linted imprint will be distributed through Fat Beats from now on as both parties recently signed a distribution deal. Upcoming releases include Rasco's album and 12's from Cali Agents and Supastition."

sounds dope, the guest appearances look dope as well.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
