How confident would you say you are in Russell Westbrook's ability to be a full time pure pg? I really like his defense but haven't seen him enough at the point to make an informed call. I was interested in Collison before he decided to stay in school, but now Westbrook is looking good, especially if he can actually really play the point.

he has more of a combo guard style, sort of a mixture of monta ellis and barbosa. i think he'll be able to handle the point guard spot, but i dont know if teams would be looking at him if they absolutely have to fill in that pg role

Westbrook can play point...though he has a lot he needs to work on in terms of playing like a point. But college IS a place to learn, so I'm sure it'll work out with a talent as good as him.

^LOL...you tryna scoop Collison or Westbrook up with that 13th pick? Westbrook declared for the draft, but there's a good chance he might pull out. I actually hear he might start at the point for UCLA if he stays, which leaves Collison coming off the bench.

^^^LOL well I wanted Collison since about the halfway point of the NBA season, but when he decided to stay at UCLA I started to take a look at Westbrook. I'm not entirely sold on him yet though. I love his defensive ability, but at his size, his ideal position in the NBA is pg and Portland's biggest need is pg, but I'm not really sold on his ability to be a pure pg. We dont need a combo guard as Roy and Rudy Fernandez and to a lesser extent Martell Webster have the 2 covered. We need a pure point. Westbrook can definitely guard the point at a top notch level but I'm not so confident in his ability to run an offense.

^It's something he will have to work on developing if he stays in college this season...I'd definitely take him if I were Portland, though.
