whats your rating on stillmatic now
« on: August 04, 2002, 02:01:47 PM »
when it first came out a lot of people said it was a classic.  but after a while a lot of people that said it was a classic said it had little replay value/  so how has every1's opinion changed on stillmatic since it dropped.  when it first dropped i thought it was a classic.  now i dont,  i still think its a great album 4.5/5,  but its not a classic.  i still listen 2 it a lot tho.  i also think it is better than tha blueprint.  i think a lot of people thought it was a classic b/c it was so refreshing to see a realtivily big name rapper have an album not revolve around i am god an fuck bitches every night while im up in tha clubs sippin cris an wearin bling type shit.

im not a nas fan and all of u know that....but really...speaking on terms of a classic....stillmatic is not a classic...nor is blueprint....classics get constant play...like the chronic...it still gets play by everyone...same for doggystyle...stillmatic will be looked at as a good album...so will blueprint....2001 will be looked at as classic...that was the last classic album...but if u want to talk about an underground classic....Street Gospel...Suga Free!!!...that album never gets old...we never have seen another suga free album but Street Gospel still does it for all of us....

"Stankonia", "Stillmatic", and "The Eminem Show" will all be considered classic in the near future, and these all came AFTER "2001"...

Stillmatic is a classic now.

He came back and showed us everything.  From battle rhymes (Ether), politics (My Country), story telling (Rewind), he mixed it up nice and showed us his all around package.  The production is also above par.  Large Pro did one hell of a job on his two tracks and Primo and the lesser known producers also provided nice backdrops for Nas to do his thing.

Like most people the only track I think should of been left off was Braveheart Party however I could go 1-10 without skipping a track (like Illmatic).

Dope album, best of 2001 for sure.

I'm getting both Nas, Jigga & Eminem albums whenever they drop a new one, but I gotta say Em Show was closest to the classic status.

Eminem Show - 4.75 mics
Blueprint - 4.5 mics
Stillmatic - 4 mics

Replay value is the key, and Stillmatic got more skippers than both ES & Blueprint.

to u...not to me...stankonia dissapointed me...wasnt great like everyone said....i already voiced my opinion on stillmatic...as from the eminem show...thats not a classic...no eminem album is classic...he always has a few songs on there that are skipable....that hoe down shit was wack...without me is annoying...the one with his daughter...damn..horrible....so again...the last near classic was 2001...to me that is....

STILLMATIC IS A CLASSIC

ITS ON ANOTHER LEVEL COMPARED TO ANYTHING ELSE THAT HAS DROPPED SINCE 2001.   AND NAS WAS HUNGRY ON THIS ALBUM, HE PUT HIS HEART INTO HIS RHYMES AND FORGOT ABOUT "THE INDUSTRY"...

STILLMATIC=CLASSIC
IMO ;)

I dont think it is a classic. It bored me after awhile. A classic doesn't bore you.

4.75/5

amazing album, and even though I dont play it as much as I used to, it hasnt lost any quality points with me. If its not a classic yet, it will be soon.......

It is a very good album, one of the best of last year but it's not a classic in my opinion, 4.5/5

it ain't a classic, illmatic is a classic. stillmatic is 4.25/5 to me (equal to it was written). lyrically it's great, but the production has some flaws (braveheart party, rule)...but nas still killed jay-z in the battle ;)
