THE CALHOUNS...MADE IN THE DURDY SOUTH
« on: July 01, 2002, 07:55:25 AM »
Atlanta has produced some of the best and biggest hip-hop stars in the music industry. The production team of Organized Noize has been largely responsible for this phenomenon as they are the musical curators and geniuses behind the Atlanta sound. Organized Noize has provided Gold and Platinum, Grammy award winning hits for the likes of Outkast, TLC and Goodie Mob and intend to do the same with their latest project, The Calhouns.

The Calhouns are the dirty south's first family of hip-hop, the not-too-distant cousins of the renowned Dungeon Family. The roots of the Calhoun family tree run deep into the rich soil and rugged streets of East Point, Georgia, and their branches extend far and wide - from New York to California. The latest members of the clan to make their musical mark are a brash couple of Calhoun cousins known as Lucky and Pauly, who have paid their dues on the hip-hop scene, dishing out remixes for big names like Goodie Mob (the "Dirty South" remix featuring Mystikal), Outkast (the Jazzybelle remix featuring Babyface), Slimm Calhoun, Backbone, Nivea and Cool Breeze. The duo also did tours with 2 Live Crew, Slick Rick, Too Short, Redhead Kingpin, DJ Hurricane and the Beastie Boys - whose tour lasted four years, taking them around the globe from Jerusalem and Poland to Australia and Japan, to Sweden and Austria.

Besides Lucky and Pauly, the group consists of Freddie Calhoun also know as Cool Breeze, whose list of accomplishments includes his hit song "Dirty South" which went gold, "Decatur Psalms" in which he was featured with multi-platinum artist Outkast. Cool Breeze also scored two gold albums with Goodie Mob, and three multi-platinum albums with Outkast, who he has also toured with. His anthem "Watch For The Hook" from "East Point's Greatest Hits" remains a big hit at the clubs and radio stations. Joining in as guest DJ on the album is the ever-popular DJ Hurricane, known for his extended stint with the Beastie Boys, as well as a successful solo carreer. Rounding out the group is the "King Of Lyrics & Vibes"; Howg Major Calhoun who is a big influence on the Atlanta scene and has worked with acts as diverse as 112, Lil Zane and others.

The release of the Calhouns first single "Outfits", from the debut album "Made In The Dirty South" produced by Organized Noize, is guaranteed to be a smash. Artists that have been produced by Organized Noize have sold millions of units in the United States alone. Organized Noize along with the Dungeon Family were solely responsible for putting LaFace records onto the rap map and, of course, the Dungeon Family included the Calhouns and Cool Breeze. Atlanta artists 112, Too Short, Fife Dawg (Tribe Called Quest), Ludacrist, and Dallas Austin have in some form or fashion benefited from the production and influence of Organized Noize. They are truly the musical unit that made the Southeast a force to be reckoned with.

No one has ever denied an Organized Noize production and no one will deny the heavily anticipated new release of the reunited Calhoun Family.

Tight! A whole album produced by Organized Noize always results into something AMAZING! Plus the lyrics of Cool Breeze are ill as fuck but haven't heard the other members yet unless Slim Cutta Calhoun is a member. East Point's Greatest Hits is UNDERRATED!
